Babysitters and nannies in Ubud

Ubud is cooler, greener and quieter than the coast: rice terraces, river-valley villas, temples, yoga and some of Bali's best food. Many of the things parents come here for are easier without a toddler in tow, and that is where we come in.

Childcare in Ubud

Ubud and the villages around it, from Tegallalang and Payangan in the north to Mas, Peliatan and Sayan, are full of villas and boutique resorts set in rice fields and river gorges, often with infinity pools and steep steps. A sitter at the villa lets you take the yoga class, the temple visit, the Campuhan Ridge walk or the long lunch at a jungle restaurant, while the children have pool time, drawing and a nap.

For the children, Ubud is an adventure: the Monkey Forest (older kids love it; keep snacks away from the monkeys), the Tegallalang rice terraces and swings, Bali Zoo, Bali Safari and Marine Park and Bali Bird Park a short drive south, kids' cooking classes, and river-tubing and gentle cycling tours through the villages for older children.

Ubud also has a big community of resident expat families and international schools, and we place long-term and live-in nannies here as well as holiday sitters. Evenings are quieter than on the coast, so evening bookings here are mostly about a peaceful dinner and the Ubud Palace dance performances.

Ubud: questions parents ask

Is Ubud a good base for a family holiday in Bali?

Yes, especially for families with children over about four who enjoy animals, nature and culture, and for parents who want yoga, walks and good food. There is no beach, and villas often have steep steps and unfenced pools, so a sitter at the villa makes a big difference with toddlers.

Can a nanny take my children to the Ubud Monkey Forest or Bali Zoo?

Yes. These are two of our most popular Ubud activity days. We arrange a car and driver, and the nanny stays with the children throughout. We generally suggest the Monkey Forest for children of school age who can follow the rules about food and bags, and Bali Zoo or Bali Safari for younger ones.
