Seminyak is where many families base themselves for the restaurants, the shopping and the long stretch of beach, and it is where we get the most calls for sunset-dinner sitters. We cover every villa lane and hotel from Petitenget to Double Six.
Seminyak and neighbouring Petitenget, Kerobokan and Umalas are full of private villas with pools, which makes them ideal for babysitting at home: the children stay in a familiar space with the pool, the garden and their own beds, while you walk to dinner on Jalan Kayu Aya or a sunset at Ku De Ta or Potato Head.
The beach at Seminyak is wide and beautiful for walks, sandcastles and sunsets, but the surf and currents are strong, so for actual swimming with young children we usually head to a villa or hotel pool, or take a short drive to the calm water at Sanur or Nusa Dua. Our sitters know the quieter cafes and the playground at the Seminyak Village mall for rainy afternoons.
Evening bookings are the most popular here: a sitter arrives at 5pm, does dinner, bath and bedtime at your villa, and you have the night. Daytime hourly sitting while you shop or visit a spa, and live-in nannies for longer villa stays, are just as easy to arrange.

The beach is lovely for walking and playing on the sand, but the surf and rips at Seminyak are strong and there are no lifeguards along most of it, so we do not recommend swimming with young children. Villa and hotel pools, or the calm water at Sanur and Nusa Dua, are the safe options.
